Sophia Jobst

Sophia F. "Aunt Soph" Jobst, 89, of Ottawa died Thursday, October 15, 2009 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 20, 2009 with Msgr. Jerome Ham officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 19, 2009 from 4 - 8 PM, rosary will be at 4:00 with Catholic Daughters of Americas at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Sophia was born July 19, 1920, in Ottawa, IL, to George and Mary (Green) Jobst. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Catholic Daughters of Americas, Altar and Rosary Society, The Moose, and the American Legion Auxiliary. She worked at Feehan and McClellan Insurance Agency for 57 years. She enjoyed bowling and was named bowler of the year. She was also the Altar and Rosary Society treasurer for over 20 years. She is survived by one brother, Donald Jobst of Ottawa; one sister, Mary (William) Bower of Ottawa; thirteen nieces and nephews, Michael, Tom, Tim, Jane, and Joseph Jobst, Mary Clair, Cathy Noel, Julie Charbonneau, Carol Neurohr, Stephen Bower, Laurie McConville, Julie Van Saders, and Lisa Hansen. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ralph "Bocky" Jobst. Pallbearers will be the nephews. Memorials may be directed to the family.
