Sister Rita Pitstick, R.S.M. 88, a member of Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, formerly of Ottawa passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at McAuley Manor in Aurora. A Prayer service will be at 9:30 am Monday February 4, 2013 at McAuley Manor 400 West Sullivan Rd in Aurora. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Herve Abou officiating. Visitation will be two hours before services at church. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Arrangements by the Ottawa Funeral Home Rita was born October 20, 1924 to Henry and Ida (Funfsinn) Pitstick. She entered the Convent in 1942 for 71 years. She taught 1st grade at St. Columba Grade School, from 1955 to 1963. And St. Patrick's grade school in Seneca in 1966 to 1967. She is survived by two sisters, Marjorie (Gerald) Nelson of Serena, and Paula (Arden) Chapple of Spokane, Washington; three brothers, Edwin (Betty Lou) Pitstick, Hubert "Bud" (Betty) Pitstick, and Vincent Pitstick, all of Ottawa; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Rose Tyler, Mae Alexander, Marilyn Hanusik and Lottie Stallings; five brothers, Peter, Lawrence, Richard and two in infancy; and one niece, Marguerite Jones. Pallbearers will be nephews. Memorials may be directed to Sisters of Mercy retirement fund.
