Sidney M. Stiefel

Sidney M. Stiefel, 84, of Ottawa, IL, died, Tuesday, November 30, 2010 in Ottawa. Funeral Service 1:00 PM Sunday at the Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rabbi Shlomo Wing officiating. Burial will be in the Jewish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 - 6 pm, Saturday, December 4 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Sidney Stiefel was born November 21, 1925, in Ottawa, Il., to the late Sidney L. and Selma (Stern) Stiefel . He married Rochelle G. Grossberg on February 15, 1959 in Chicago, IL.. She died February 1, 1997. He owned and operated Stiefel Clothing store in Ottawa. He was a member of the Ottawa Boat Club, Ottawa Elks Lodge, the Shriners, President of Ottawa Jewish Cemetery Association,and also volunteered for the Ottawa Scouting Museum, Ottawa VFW and the LaSalle County Genealogy Guild. He served in the Army at the end of WWII in the Infantry Signal Corp. He is survived by one daughter, Marla Stiefel of Chicago and one son, Norman (Theresa) Stiefel of Arlington Heights, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters, Rita Kaufman and Janet Hess. Pallbearers will be George and Fred Hess, Allan and Steve Kaufman, Frank Nussbaum and Don Grubaugh.. Memorials may be directed to donor's choice. In accordance with Jewish custom, flowers should be omitted.
