Shirley Mcallester

Shirley McAllester, 96, of Seneca, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Streator.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been accorded.

Shirley was born July 20, 1926, in Marseilles, IL, to John and Isabelle (Gunderson) Anderson. She married Charles McAllester on December 5, 1942 in Hannibal, Missouri. He passed away August 3, 1991.

She loved to play bingo and cards with her friends and family; she played Klinker weekly with them. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Her friends and family will miss her jokes and her smile; she always had a joke to tell.

She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Wols and Mary (Gerald) Lowe; her grandchildren, Kimberly Brake, Wende (Glenn) Wise, Angela (Todd) Vonderohe, Sarah (Brian) Borchelt, and Karie (Matt) Marques; her great grandchildren, Ryan (Jill), Kelsey, and Kate Vonderohe; and her great great grandchild, Delilah Vonderohe.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Joseph, Carl, Edward, Stanley, and Iver Anderson; her sisters, Allie Vicich, Cora Krebs, Irene Cowell, Evelyn Duvick, and Dorothy Swanson; and her grandchildren, Craig, Charles, and Keith Marzano and Stephen Lowe.
