Shirley Less

Shirley M. Less, 85, of Ottawa, IL, died, Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at Pleasant View. A Memorial Mass will be 11:00 Saturday April 10, 2010 at St. Columba Church, with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be 9:00-10:30 Saturday April 10, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Ottawa Funeral Home oversaw the cremation. Shirley was born July 6, 1924, in Ottawa, IL., to Walter and Frances (Svoboda) Bonhorst. She married Oscar J. Less April 13, 1943 in El Paso, TX. He died August 4, 1979. Shirley and Oscar owned and operated Oscars Tap in Ottawa for twenty years. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, American Legion and VFW Auxillary, Women of the Moose, Elks Club, Dayton Ridge Golf Course, Grandmothers and Nightowls Bowling Leagues. She is survived by four sons, Richard (Jean) Less, Jay (Sue) Less, and Frank (Sue) Less, all of Ottawa, and Walter Less of Little River, S.C.; eleven grandchildren, Tracy Jones, Chris (Daniel) Flaherty, Kim (Alan) Ruhland, and Michelle, Timothy, Kirk, Mike, James, Erik, and Greg Less, and Jason Newbury; She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Memorials may be directed to donor's choice.
