Shirley Day

Shirley Day, 80, of Marseilles, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family.

Following Shirley's wishes, no services will be held. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.

Shirley was born April 12, 1944, in Shelby County, Indiana, to Wm. Floyd and Virginia (Lowery) Tungate. She married Larry Day on September 29, 1992 in Ottawa, IL.

Shirley worked in health care as a home care worker for many years. In her free time, she loved to go to the riverboat, especially the boat in Peoria and Joliet. She loved her children and grandchildren and never missed an opportunity to be with them.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Day; her children, Patricia (Mickey) Downey, Karen Patarozzi, Rhonda Lovell, and Donald Grooms; her grandchildren, Justin (Casey) Downey, Shasta Downey, Dalton Downey, Kennedy Patarozzi, Kameilia Patarozzi, and David Grooms; and her great grandchildren, Hadley Downey, Noah Young, Jeremy Grooms, and Santino Meza.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Virginia; and her grandson, Jason Grooms.
