Sarah Elaine Geiger

Sarah Elaine Geiger, 32, of Ottawa, IL, passed away in the arms of her loving family, Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at her home. A Memorial service will be 10:00 am, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene, with Sarah's Aunt, Barbara McCauley officiating. Visitation will be 3-7 pm, Monday, May 2, at Ottawa First Church of the Nazarene. Inurnment will be private. Sarah was born April 3, 1979, in Ottawa, IL to Ken and Carol (Fowler) Geiger. She worked as an EKG Technician at Community Hospital of Ottawa for ten years. Sarah raised her two beautiful girls to be as strong willed as she was. We are so blessed to have them as a constant reminder of the courageous, fun-loving, and generous person that she was. Sarah's favorite pastime was to play bingo, which we're sure that she has continued with our grandma and aunt that passed before her. She instigated many wrestling matches with her nieces and nephews. Sarah struggled for over three years with cancer, which included numerous surgeries, chemo and radiation treatments, and doctor visits, but through it all, she never faltered in her zest for life, and love, that she exuded for her family and friends. Sarah is survived by her parents; Ken Geiger, and Carol Geiger, both of Ottawa; two daughters, Alexis and Melana Pries at home; two sisters, Jennifer (Ryan) Leifheit of Ottawa, and Megan (Michael) Magana of Ottawa; one brother, Ken Geiger Jr. of Ottawa; nephews, Bryce Burress and Reily Leifheit, both of Ottawa; and nieces, Sydney and Sadey Magana, both of Ottawa; along with many special Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins. Sarah is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Elaine Fowler and Arthur "Fidge" Fowler; her paternal grandparents, Margaret and George Geiger; three aunts, Nancy Anselme, Pam Bone, and Judy Farrell; two uncles, Bob Geiger and Paul Geiger; and two cousins, Andy and Jerry Geiger. Memorials may be directed to the family in order to establish an educational fund for Sarah's girls, Lexi and Melana.
