Ruth Mallory "Stands-On-A-Cloud" Sine, 97, of Peru, formerly of Starved Rock State Park, died Friday, March 7th, 2008 at Heritage Manor in Peru. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Monday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Officiating last rites will be Norbert Dick, a member of the Wisconsin Chapter of Native American Church. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 2 5 PM Sunday March 9th at the funeral home. Ruth "Stands-On-A-Cloud" was the eldest member of the Winnebago Tribe. Mrs. Sine was born May 8th, 1910 at Blueberry Ridge in Seneca Township, Wisconsin to Fred and Grace (White) Mallory. She married Sampson C. "Chief Walks-With-The-Wind" Sine. He died September 1st, 1985. She is survived by one son, Gerhard "Hayna or White Beaver" (Betsy) Sine; one adopted son William Tucker; one daughter Aurelia "Weha or White Feather" (Lawrence) Ott; six grandchildren Gerald and Jeffrey Savage,; Jacqui Parker; J Thorpe and Jebette L. Sine and Christopher Earhart and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son Samuel "Kunu or Daybreak" Sine; one daughter Ruth Marie "Henu or Dawn" Savage and one brother. Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
