Ruth Eleanor Monheim

Ruth Eleanor Monheim, 89, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 8, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 14, 2013, at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. on Friday, prior to services, at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Ruth was born January 20, 1924, in Streator, Illinois, to William and Ida (Wachter) Richard. She married Lawrence J. Monheim on February 18, 1950, at St. Columba Church. She was a member of Catholic Daughters of Americas, the Altar and Rosary Society, Women of the Moose, and AARP. Ruth played in a card group and also was an avid Cubs fan. She is survived by her husband, Larry; daughters, Marcia (Michael) Dowding of Pendleton, IN and Marie Monheim of Ottawa; sons, Walter (Sherle) Monheim of Eagle River, WI and Larry Monheim of Palm Springs, CA; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Art Richard; and a sister, Bernice Edwards. Memorials may be directed to St. Columba Building Fund or donors' choice.
