Russell Martin

Russell James Martin of Bradenton, Florida passed away Friday, June 14, 2024, at the age of 87.  Russ was born November 14, 1936, the son of the late Andrew and Mary (Bartlett) Martin.

Russ was a longtime resident of Seneca before retiring and moving to Bradenton, Florida. Russ was a veteran of the United States Army having served 3 years in Germany.  He married the love of his life, Irma Jean Pellegrini, on August 8, 1959, and they raised their family in Seneca.  Russ worked for Libby Owens, Dupont and Reichold Chemicals, which he retired from.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge.

Russ is survived by his daughters, Lori Martin of Morris and Lynn of Seneca and his son, Larry (Mari) Martin of Omaha, Ne.  He has been blessed with 9 grandchildren, Andrew, Zach, Grant, Carter and Olivia Martin and Luke, Brittany, Cole and Maya Underhill; as well as 7 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Russ was preceded in death by his wife, Irma Jean; an infant daughter; his grandson, Andrew Martin; his brothers, Robert (Jean Ann), Richard, and Willard (Rosanne) Martin; his sisters, Celia (Dean) Hovious and Dorthy (Lester) Gaff; and his brothers and sisters in law, Donald (Ramona) Pellegrini, Louis Pellegrini, Harold (Gloria) Pellegrini, Elaine (Harlan/Shorty) Neimann, and Jerry (Joan) Pellegrini.

A visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, from 10:00am until 11:00am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Seneca. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00am, with Fr. Ryan Mattingly officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Seneca.
