October 22, 1919 — July 13, 2008

SENECA -- Rev. Roy F. Wilson, 88, of Seneca, died Sunday, July 13, at the Morris Hospital. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the former Assembly of God Church at the corner of Main and Union in Seneca with the Rev. Roger Willis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery in Seneca with full military honors presented by the Honor Guard of Kasal Post 457. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. Rev. Wilson was born October 22, 1919 in Florida, Missouri to William and Myrtle (McGeorge) Wilson. He married Myrtle Harris October 13, 1940 in Springfield Missouri at The First Methodist Church. He was the minister at the First Assembly of God Church in Seneca for 41 years, retiring in 1996, and a sheet metal worker for 40 years retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 until 1946 in the Pacific. He was a senior ordained minister of the Assemblies of God Church; Sheet Metal Workers Local 1; American Legion Kasal Post 457 and had been inducted into the La Salle County Baseball Hall of Fame in 1990. He graduated from Seneca High School in 1939; the International Bible Institute and Seminary in Plymouth, Florida in 1986. He is survived by his wife, Myrtle; three daughters, Nancy (Donald) Tegeler of Spring Grove, Mary (Jim) Haider and Thelma Anne (Ronald) Stacy, both of Bloomingdale; one son, Roy W. (Nancy) Wilson of Woodstock; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. He was preceeded in death by a brother, Woodrow, and one sister, Mary, in infancy. Pallbearers will be grandsons and son-in-laws, D.J. and Donald Tegeler Sr., Bryan and Ronald Stacy, Jim Haider, Mathew Porter and Eric Hendrickson.
