Rose Marie Salzer

Rose Marie Salzer, 76, of Serena, Illinois passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Pleasant View Nursing Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 2, 2015 at 10:00 am at St. Columba Church with Rev. Corey Kreingel officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, March 1, 2015 2:00pm to 5:00 pm with prayers at 1:45 pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Rose Marie was born July 13, 1938 in LaSalle, Illinois to Cassimir and Mary (Jesilowski) Ratajczak. She married C. Richard Salzer on December 28, 1957 in St. Hyacinth Church; he passed away May 12, 2002. Rose Marie loved visiting her children, her Canadian vacation home, and playing bridge. She enjoyed volunteering at St. Elizabeth Hospital for many years. She is survived by three sons, Richard "Rick" (Sally) Salzer, Kevin (Kathy) Salzer, and Mark (Jodi) Salzer; and a daughter, Lauren (Timothy) Mahan; nine grandchildren, Carolyn, Megan, Andrew, Eric, Katie, Ben, Erin, Ally, and Luke. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, C. Richard Salzer. Pallbearers will be Andrew, Eric, and Luke Salzer and Ben Mahan. Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society or OSF St. Elizabeth Hospital.
