Rose M. Alvarado

Rose M. Alvarado, 99, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at St. Columba Church with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 7:00 p.m. Rose was born March 1, 1914, in Uvalde, Texas, to Rafael and Petra (Tovar) Campos. She married John Alvarado on September 4, 1927, in Crown Point, Indiana. She was a member of St. Columba Church. She is survived by two daughters, Sally (Larry) Pruitt of Herrick and Tina Alvarado of Ottawa; two sons, Rudy Alvarado of Ottawa and Ruben Alvarado of Grand Ridge; sixteen grandchildren; thirty one great-grandchildren; and sixteen great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; two sons, John J. Alvarado and Richard Alvarado; one daughter, Molly Moreno; two grandsons, Steve Moreno and Duane Alvarado, two sisters, Angela Alvarado and Pauline Montez; and one brother, Paul Campos. Pallbearers will be Stephen Moreno, Alex Hansen, Christopher Hansen, Stephen Hansen, Daniel Elzer, Christopher Alvarado, and John Wright. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be directed to Voluntary Action Center "VAC" (Meals on Wheels) or Bridges Community Center.
