Ronald T. Sheedy

Ronald T. Sheedy, 80, of Seneca, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the LaSalle Veterans Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery with military services and presentation of the flag. Ronald was born November 2, 1932 to Timothy and Frances (Miller) Sheedy in Streator, Illinois. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After 33 years of service in the accounting department he retired from Caterpillar in Aurora in 1990. He married Sally Dalton on January 15, 1983 in Montgomery, Illinois. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca, American Legion Kasal Post 457, and past board member of the Seneca Library. He is survived by his wife; three sons, Scott (Pam) Barry of Batavia, Tim Barry of Hinkley, and Jeff (Dawn) Barry of Hinckley; one daughter, Lorrie (Michael Peterson) Barry of Seneca; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Kevin Sheedy of Aurora, and Keenan Sheedy of Los Angeles, CA; three sister-in-laws, Martha Sheedy of Streator, Suzann (Dennis) Readey of Bloomington, and Patricia (William) King of Bloomington; and one brother-in-law, Phil (Jacqui) Dalton of St. Augustine, FL. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Norman Sheedy and Glenn Sheedy. Pallbearers will be David, Mark and Dick Sheedy, Ryan Barry, Timothy McGeorge, and Donald Luckey. Honorary pallbearers will be his granddaughters and great granddaughter. Memorials may be directed to the LaSalle Veterans Home or St. Jude's Hospital.
