Robert J. Woodward

Robert J. Woodward, 89, of Peru, IL, formerly of Ottawa, died, Sunday, October 31, 2010 at St. Margaret's Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate with Rev. William Gardner, officiating. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 pm Tuesday, November 2 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Prayers at 4:00 pm with Knights of Columbus in attendance. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery, with Military Services. Robert Woodward was born April 13, 1921, in Ottawa, Illinois to Albert C. "Nick" and Marie (Dwyer) Woodward. He married Charlotte Pearson on October 1, 1943 in Moultrie, Georgia. She died Jan. 2, 2001. He then Married Georgianne Gregorich on September 6, 2003 in Peoria She died Nov. 20, 2007. Bob served in the US Army Air Corps during WWII as flight instructor. He retired from the Northern Illinois Gas Company. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Naplate, St. Mary's Men Club, St. Valentine Church in Peru, Knights of Columbus, and was on the association board for the Villas of North Peru. He is survived by his daughter, JoAnn (Dennis) Rockey of Ottawa; one son, Ronald (Michelle) Woodward of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Susie (Larry) Fleming, Jessica Manning, and Tim Woodward all of Ottawa; two great grandchildren, Mallari and Trevor Fleming. He was preceded in death by parents; both of his wives; one son, Robert Jr. Woodward; a granddaughter, Dawn Marie Ross; three sisters, Jean Monterastelli, Jane Hulse, and Margaret "Midge" Karr. Pallbearers will be Tim Woodward, Larry Fleming, Mike Rockey, Jessica Manning, Dave VanGrevenhof and Dave Sommer. Memorials may be directed to Donors Choice.
