Robert Stahl

Robert Stahl, 38, of Mendota, formerly of Ottawa passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at University of Chicago Medical Center after a courageous battle with leukemia. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Wednesday, December 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Church with Rev. Augustin Kassa officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Tuesday, December 12 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery at a later date. Robert was born January 31, 1979 in Naperville to Sheila Schomas Stahl and Leslie Stahl. He graduated from Waubonsie Valley High School in 1997 then attended College of DuPage. Robert enjoyed playing video games and was an avid skydiver, jumping 62 times. He was a member of the USPA-United States Parachuting Association. He is survived by his mother, Sheila of Ottawa; his father, Leslie of Michigan; his significant other, Kim McLain and her daughter, Kayla Shumack, both of Mendota; his maternal grandmother, Charlene "Nana" Schomas; his sister, Charlene Stahl; his niece, Leila Stahl; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Robert Schomas; and his paternal grandparents, Elmer J. Stahl and Nellie Gribbin. Pallbearers will be Jason Baron, Tom Foster, Mark Janusz, Ted Kontopoulos, Steve O'Connor, and Andy Kubicki. Memorials may be directed to the family.
