Robert L. Schomas

Robert L. Schomas, 78, of Ottawa, died Saturday, Jan. 10, at La Salle County Nursing Home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis of Assisi Church with the Rev. Gerald Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home. He was born March 12, 1930, in Ottawa, to Charles and Daisy (Lawrence)Schomas. He married Charlene Wagner Sept. 22, 1951, at St. Francis of Assisi Church. He worked for Libby Owens Ford, Bakelite and retired from St. Francis of Assisi Church. He was a member of Holy Family Society and St. Francis of Assisi Church. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlene; one daughter, Sheila Stahl of Aurora; two grandchildren,Robert and Charlene Stahl, both of Aurora; a great-granddaughter, Leila Stahl; 47 nieces and nephews; and five sisters,Annetta (Pat) Wild of Rock Island, Ceil Crisler and Norma Brenbarger, both of Ottawa, Delores Bell of Rolling Meadows and Rose (Ed) Johnson of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by nine brothers, Burt, Charles, Harold, Rafael, Melvin, Ben, William and EugeneSchomas and Francis Heath; and four sisters, Loretta Einhaus, Dorothy Lowe, Bernadine Wilson and Gertrude Helland. Pallbearers will be Bob Stahl, Doug Schomas, Gerald, James, RC and Bob Lowe and Jerry Einhaus.
