Robert F. Rossiter

Robert "Bob" F. Rossiter, 93, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's at LaSalle Veterans Home. Funeral Services will be held at 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Ottawa Funeral Home with his son in law, Rev. Gary Miller, officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm Tuesday prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be at St. Columba Cemetery, at a later date. Bob was born November 15, 1921 in Ottawa, Illinois to Walter and Emma (Poutre) Rossiter. He married Elizabeth "Betty" McGinnis on November 19, 1955 at St. Patrick's Church, in Ottawa. Bob was retired from Libbey Owens Ford after 30 years as a foreman. He served in the US Army Air Force as a flight engineer during WWII (1941-1945). He was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, golf, metal detecting, bingo, and his grandchildren. Bob was a loving devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather that will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife; a son, Mark Rossiter, of Ottawa; two daughters, Sue Grey of Ottawa and Robin (Gary) Miller, of Coralville, IA.; six grandchildren, Ryan (Elena) Rossiter, Ellie (Denis) Muenzenmayer, Patrick Rossiter, Evan (Myleigh) Rossiter, Ross (Amber) Miller and Kelli Miller; two great grandchildren, Henry Miller and Lydia Rossiter; one brother, Donald (Diz) Rossiter; three sisters, Jane Mucci, Alyce Erickson, and Kathleen Bumgarner; many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Orsini; three brothers, Walter (Junie) Rossiter, Harold (Toot) Rossiter, and one in infancy; one niece, Cindy Kubinski; and one nephew, Don Mucci. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to VA Home in LaSalle.
