Robert Newcomb Sr.

Robert E. Newcomb Sr., 83 of Ottawa died Wednesday March 26, 2008 at Rivershores Care Center in Marseilles. Mass of Christian Burial will be10:00 AM Monday, March 31, 2008 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate with the Rev. Lourduraj Ignatius officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 30 from 2 - 5 PM at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 2:00. Robert was born May 30, 1924 in Hyannis, Massachusets to Leslie and Mary (Gallant) Newcomb. He married Catherine Kolotka November 24, 1946 in Massachusets; she died June 5, 2003. He was employed at LOF for many years; was a member of St. Mary's Church, the American Legion and was a Volunteer Firefighter for the Naplate Fire Department for 21 years. He is survived by two daughters Debbie (Mike) McGrath of Naplate and Lisa (Willy) Weinreich of Seneca; five grandchildren, John Newcomb, Michael McGrath Jr., Emily Wedewer, Dustin and Amy Weinreich and a daughter in law, Helen Newcomb of Ottawa. Mr. Newcomb was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a son, Robert Newcomb Jr., one brother, William, three sisters, Adelaide, Francis and Dorothy and one grandson in infancy. Pallbearers will be John Newcomb, Michael McGrath Jr., Dustin Weinreich, Brad Blue, Ryan and Shane Smart. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Naplate Fire Department or the donor's choice.
