Robert Mcgrath

Robert P. McGrath, 92, of Ottawa passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 12:00 noon Saturday, March 11, 2017 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be 10:00 - 11:30 am prior to services Saturday at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with military honors.

Bob was born July 14, 1924 in Ottawa, Illinois to James and Jessie (Ross) McGrath. He proudly served in the United States Army during WWII in Philippines and Okinawa, Japan. He married Ivis Donahue June 25, 1949 at St. Columba Church. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Knights of Columbus, Ottawa Moose, and past member of the VFW. Bob loved spending time with his family & friends. He was a die-hard Cubs fan & was excited to see them win the World Series in 2016. He enjoyed a political debate with anyone that would challenge him. He loved being outdoors-- gardening, woodworking & riding his bike 15 - 20 miles a day. Bob will be missed by anyone that knew & loved him

He is survived by his wife, Ivis; six children, Carol (Rusty) Wells, Michael McGrath, Dennis (Cathy) McGrath, Sally (Ed) DePaoli, Patrick McGrath, and Jim (Kellie)McGrath; seventeen grandchildren, Tricia King, Tiffanie (Jay) Wayland, Tracey (Bob) Nolting, Tisha (Jessie) Menke, Kelly (Chris) Vlasvich, Carrie (Jake) Campbell, Nickolas (Nicole) Eddy, Nathan Eddy, Joshua (Sandra) McGrath, Rob (Ashley) McGrath, Tom (Brooke) McGrath, Joe (Kara) DePaoli, Tim DePaoli, Ryan(Lori) McGrath, Deana (Jeromie) Gass, Jonathan Eggemeyer, and Stacey Eggemeyer; twenty seven great grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Francis and James; one sister, Dorothy Albritton; and his daughter-in-law, Stacey McGrath.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Josh, Rob, Tom, and Ryan McGrath, Joe and Tim DePaoli.
