Robert M. "Pete" Katrein, 72, of Naplate, Illinois died, Friday, October 30, 2009 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 4, 2009 at St. Mary Church, with the Rev. Lourduraj Ignatius, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with Military Services. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Prayers at 4:00 PM. Robert "Pete" Katrein was born February 13, 1937, in Ottawa to Tony and Catherine (Kerrigan) Katrein. He married Julia Panko on December 4, 1965 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. He attended St. Columba Grade School and graduated from Marquette High School in1955. He served three years in the US Air Force. He retired from LOF Glass Co. in 1994 after 39 years of service. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, Men's Club, Local 19, and AARP. He enjoyed fishing, reading, doing puzzles, watching sports on T.V., and was a die-hard Clubs Fan. He is survived by his wife Julia of forty four years; one son, Michael (Candee) Katrein of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Cory, Brandon, and Brittney; one great grandchild, Isabella; one brother, Thomas (Vicki) Katrein of Ottawa; one sister, Dorothy (Tom) Guerrero of Ottawa; many nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Florence Katrein of FL.; and one brother-in-law, Jack Elias of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by parents; one brother, William "Pete" Katrein; one sister, Beverly Elias; and his uncle, William "Arkie" Kerrigan. Pallbearers will be Cory and Brandon Katrein, Robert Batistini, Roger Zuk, Tom Govero and Jay Timm. Memorials may be directed to the family.
