Robert "Bob" J. Raudonis

Robert “Bob” Raudonis, 84, of Ottawa, Illinois and Spooner, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor, FL.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, February 11, 2016 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ottawa, with Father Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Wednesday, with prayers at 3:45. Burial will be at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, with full military rites. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory.

Bob was born October 8, 1931 in Chicago to Felix and Julia (Patrick) Raudonis. He married Jean Spence on April 23, 1966 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa.

Bob graduated from Kelly High School in Chicago. He proudly served in the United States Navy as a meteorologist in the Korean War. Bob received both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Bob was a Driver’s Ed, Health, and PE teacher at Ottawa Township High School for 30 years. He coached football and wrestling, and refereed wrestling for years before starting the soccer program. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion of Oglesby, IHSA, IEA, NEA, and AARP. Bob was an avid Green Bay Packers & Wisconsin Badgers fan. His passions were gardening, fishing, and spending his summers in Wisconsin and winters in Texas and Florida.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Raudonis; two children, Jaime Cunningham of San Leon, Texas and Danny (Barb) Raudonis of South Haven, Michigan; two grandchildren, Chad and Kylee Cunningham of San Leon, Texas; and one sister, Delores Buwick of Parkland, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Chad Cunningham, John Sao Marcos, Tom Conti, Ken Conti, Clay Chester, and John Levy. Honorary pallbearers will be Jim Chester, Lee Wegrzyn, and Walt Olep.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to establish the Coach Bob Raudonis OHS Soccer Scholarship.
