Robert J. Einhaus, 79, of Ottawa passed away Sunday, December 24, 2017 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Visitation will be held from 4 - 7 pm, Thursday, December 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 with Rev. David Kipfer. Private funeral services will be held at a later time. Robert was born August 28, 1938 in Morris, Illinois to Francis J. and Lucille S. (Bowermaster) Einhaus. He married Sandra Neilsen on November 7, 1959 at St. Francis Church in Ottawa. Robert was a barber then retired from Libby Owens Ford. He was an Ottawa little league and pony league coach for many years. He was an avid horse racing owner for 55 years and was a member of the United States Harness Association. Robert was a devoted life-time member of St. Patrick's Church. He was a loving husband and a great father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandy; seven children, Terry (Debbie) Einhaus of Ottawa, Lester (Tina) Einhaus of Pontiac, Mike (Lori) Einhaus of Ottawa, Theresa Poundstone of Ottawa, Duane Einhaus of Utica, Tony Einhaus of Ottawa, and Debbie (Ken) Knoll of Ottawa; 17 grandchildren, Cassandra, Austin, Tristina, Jayonah, and Chase Einhaus, Trenton and Alana Einhaus, Marie, Blake, and Adam Poundstone, Rachel, Dean, and Shelby Einhaus, and Payton, Cooper, Bella, and Carson Knoll; two great-grandchildren, Levi and Livy; his brother, Ronald (Janet) Einhaus of Indian Wells, California; and his sister, Patricia Nichols of Tucson, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Ryan Poundstone. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. Flower bearers will be his granddaughters. Memorials may be directed to the family.
