Robert L. Collins, 66, of Ottawa, died Saturday, March 6, 2010 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday, March11, 2010 at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa with Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 Wednesday, March 10 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Robert was born April 11, 1943 in Streator, Illinois to Thomas and Mary (Zant) Collins. He married Carol Rexroat March 17, 1973. He is a 1962 graduate of Marquette High School. He worked for Bernard Trucking and is retired from LaSalle County Housing Authority. He was a member of the Elks and the Moose. Robert is survived by his wife, Carol; two daughters, Laurie (Barry) Blythe and Michelle (Donald) Winders both of Ottawa; three grandchildren, Amanda (Patrick) Gende, Alex Crawford both of Ottawa, and Adam Wheeler of California; four great-grandsons, Devin, Dominic,Dustin,and Bryler Gende; two brothers, Wayne (Irma) Collins of Wisconsin, Tom (Ann) Collins of Varna, IL; and one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Collins of Ottawa. He is preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Richard Collins; one sister, Carol Collins. Pallbearers will be Curt Gretencord, Gary Rinker, Ernie Brown, Joe Moore, Randy Riebe, Tom Collins, Logan Summer, and Barry Blythe. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
