Robert E. "Burkie" Burke, 79, of Montgomery, formerly of Ottawa, died, Sunday, June 27, 2010 Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 to 9:45 am, Tuesday, June 29 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Robert Burke was born June 13, 1931, in Ottawa, IL., to Maurice and Marie (Scherer) Burke. He married Mary Geraldine Shannon on May 29, 1954 at St. Columba Church. He worked at Ottawa Grade School as a Custodian. He was a member of St. Patrick Church. He is survived by his wife, one daughter Kathleen (Eugene) Lowery of Woodstock, IL. three sons Robert G (Deborah) of Visalia Ca. John (Deborah) of Montgomery and Dennis (Cherly) 0f Osage MO. Eighteen grandchildren and two great granddaughters two sister Mary Elaine Eichelkraut of Frankfort Il and Therese (Austin) Helffrich of Ottawa . He was preceded in death by Parents and two sisters Rita and Dorothy Burke . Pallbearers his brother-in-laws. Memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic or the Veterans Home.
