Robert "Bud" Anselme Sr.

Robert "Bud" Anselme Sr., 83, of Ottawa, Illinois passed away Sunday, August 9, 2015 at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2015 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Corey Krengiel officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 13 at the Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 5:00 pm with the Sisters of Mercy officiating. He will be buried in St. Columba Cemetery with Military Honors. Bud was born August 5, 1932 in Ottawa, Illinois to Emile and Julia (Kerrigan) Anselme. He married Nancy L. Geiger on January 14, 1956 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa; she passed away July 29, 1997. Bud served active duty in the US Navy and was stationed in Korea from 1952 - 1956, for which he received the National Occupational Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, United Nations Medal, and a Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was also a reservist from 1956 - 1960. Bud was a retired Pipefitter from Local 81. He was a member of St. Columba Church, the American Legion, VFW and many card clubs in the area. Bud enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, playing cards, and spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by four daughters; Pamela (Kenneth) Cummings of Hillsboro, Oregon; Patti Poggi of Ottawa, Karen (Kevin) Bramel of Marseilles, and Julie (Rob) Alaimo of Seneca; one Son, Robert Jr. (Lorinda) of Seneca; eleven grandchildren, Austin and Connor Cummings, Aaron, Eric, and Lindsey Poggi, Alex and Andrea Anselme, Rachael and Jacob Bramel, Robert and Emily Alaimo; six great-grandchildren; his sister, Sister June Anselme, RSM; and his long-time companion Shirley Redman. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Nancy. Pallbearers will be Aaron, Eric and Devon Poggi; Austin and Connor Cummings, Alex Anselme, Jacob Bramel, and Robert Alaimo.
