Rita Thomas

Rita (Barsi) Thomas, 78, of Seneca died Friday August 20, 2010 at her home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday, August 28, 2010 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca with Msgr. Raymond Boyle officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 8:00 PM Friday, August 27, 2010 with prayers at 7:00 PM at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca. Rita was born October 21, 1931 to Livio and Mae (O'Connor) Barsi in Seneca, IL. She worked at AT&T in Seneca, Ottawa, and Morris, and retired in 1986 after thirty-two years of service as an operator. She married William Glen Thomas September 24, 1955 at St. Patrick's Church in Seneca. He died February 20, 1986. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca, St. Patrick's Altar & Rosary Society, and AT&T Pioneer Club. She is survived by one daughter, Lisa Thomas of Streator; one son, Michael (Jean) Thomas of California; and one brother, Francis Barsi of Ottawa; a niece, Barbara (Barsi) Froehling of Mt. Vernon; and nephews, Steven Barsi of Mt. Vernon, IL and David Barsi of Seneca, IL. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and one sister, Mary Mitchell. Pallbearers will be Richard Virgo, Tom Green, and Steve, Dave, John, and Dan Barsi. Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church in Seneca or Streator Unlimited.
