Rita Agnes Doucette, 87, of Ottawa passed away Monday, March 13, 2017 at Amber Ridge Memory Center in Moline. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday, March 17 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Tony Fevlo officiating. Visitation will be from 9 - 11:30 am, prior to the services, at Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery with military honors. Rita was born January 3, 1930 in Greenfield, Massachusetts to William and Mary (Ouellette) Doucette. She retired from Wal-Mart and the Women's Army Corps. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church, W.A.C., Women's Army Corps, and the American Legion #33. Rita was a Sergeant in the Women's Army Corps for over 20 years, serving in Japan, France, and Germany, during which she received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the U.N. Service Medal. She is survived by her sister, Anita (Fred) Maki of Geneseo and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Lorraine Elmer, five brothers, William, Albert, Leonard, Raymond, and Edmund; and her best friend, Toni. Pallbearers will be the American Legion Post #33. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
