Richard Virgo, 56, of Morris passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at University of Chicago Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 pm Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Patrick's Church of Seneca with Father Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday, March 28, 2016 at St. Patrick's Church of Seneca. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca has been entrusted with his arrangements.
Richard was born August 28, 1959 in Ottawa, Illinois to Richard Sr. and Donna (Hess) Virgo. He graduated from Seneca High School and Lewis University. He was a journeyman meat cutter for 10 years with Eagle Food Stores in Ottawa before returning to college to get a degree in Accounting. He was a CPA with William Peabody Firm in Ottawa for over 20 years and was a member of AICPA. He was a founding member and treasurer of the Seneca Jaycees organization. He loved to cycle and completed the Iowa Ragbrai and several other multi-state rides. He enjoyed camping, canoeing, and fishing in the BWCA every summer. He was an avid supporter of all activities and sporting events of his three nieces and two nephews. He was a Boy Scout in his youth and participated in activities at the YMCA and was an active supporter of both organizations. He was a member of Starved Rock Cycling Association and participated in their annual Pumpkin Pie Ride.
He is survived by his parents, Richard Sr. and Donna Virgo; one sister, Cheryl (Jeff) Wignes of Marseilles; one brother, Jeff (Elaine) Virgo of Verona; and his nieces and nephews, Brad (Devyn) Wignes, Jill and Jessica Wignes, and Sarah and Ben Virgo.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Burton (Mary) Hess; and his paternal grandparents, Otis (Evelyn) Virgo.
Pallbearers will be Bob McCullough, Steve Virgo, David Johnson, Marty Steep, Paul Bryant, Les Patton, Kett Johnson, Brad Wignes, and Ben Virgo.
