Richard Dale McCormick, 83, of Ottawa passed away Monday, March 6, 2017 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am, Friday, March 10 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Tony Fevlo officiating, with full military honors. Visitation will be from 4 - 6 pm, Thursday, March 9 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with prayers at 3:45 pm.
Dale was born March 11, 1933 in Ottawa to Raymond and Sylvia (Blumenthal) McCormick. He married Carol Engel on January 30, 1959.
Dale was a proud member of the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He retired from LOF in 1990, after 38 years. He worked at First Baptist Church for 15 years, and retired from farming in 1990. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the American Legion Post 33.
He is survived by his wife, one daughter, JoAnne McCormick of Ottawa; three sons, Jeff McCormick, James (Karen) McCormick, both of Ottawa; and Jon (Doreen) McCormick of Spring Valley; six grandchildren, Raymond, Kyle, Jessica, Tanner, Kaylie, and Gunner McCormick; one great-great granddaughter, Julianna; three sisters, Barbara Hallet, Shirley Armstrong, and Patricia (Fred) Foster; one brother, Gerald (Celia) McCormick; and two sisters-in-law, Jane McCormick and Betty McCormick.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Julie Ann; three brothers, Francis, Donald, and Harold McCormick; two sisters, Peggy Dille and Mary Lou Baker; one daughter-in-law, Cheryl McCormick; and three brothers-in-law, Mel Hallet, Jack Armstrong, and Emmett Baker;
Memorials may be directed to St. Patrick's Church.
