Richard L. Woods

Richard L. Woods, 82, of Surprise, AZ, passed away peacefully at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise in the comfort of his companion, Thomas Profico and James, Gary and Judy Woods, his immediate family members living in Arizona on Sunday, April 28, 2013. A memorial mass will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, 2013, at St. Patrick's Church. He will be buried in St. Columba Cemetery with military honors. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home. He had resided in Arizona 23 years. Prior to that, he taught in Illinois for 32 years. Richard was born on October 9, 1930, to Alma J. (Ostrem) and James W. Woods in Ottawa, Illinois. He is survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Bernard and Eugene; and former companion, Wade Pierce.
