Richard Lee Gedye

Richard Lee Gedye, 74, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Thursday, May 23, 2013, after a long illness. Funeral Service for Richard will be at 1:00 pm. on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 1:00 p.m. prior to services at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Services. Richard was born December 5, 1938, in Ottawa, Illinois, to LeRoy and Alice (Gould) Gedye. He married Luana Gilman on June 11, 1959 in Honolulu, Hawaii. He worked for Caterpillar. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1959. He is survived by his wife, Luana of Ottawa; three daughters, Denise (Thomas) Hoxie of Marseilles, Diane Gedye of Ottawa, and Dawn Gedye of Ottawa; four grandchildren, Jeremy Meyers, Jason Wolfe, Tim Halterman, and Desirae Gedye; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Eugene (Linda) Gedye of Naples, FL. He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy; his mother, Alice Miskell; and step dad, James Miskell. Pallbearers will be Jason Wolfe, Tim Halterman, Tom Hoxie, Jim Hoxie, Jake Jaszemski, and Stacy Gray. Memorials may be directed to the family.
