Richard D. Fanti

Richard D. "Taco" Fanti, 86, of Ottawa passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Prayer Services will be held at 7 pm, Thursday, May 31 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm, prior to services, Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery at a later date. Taco was born August 22, 1931 in Ottawa to Armondo and Mary (Pallai) Fanti. He married Lois Knott on September 13, 1958. Taco retired from Libby Owens Ford after 36 years. He also worked as a tax assessor for Ottawa Township for 36 years. He loved fishing, hunting, and driving around town. Taco was in the Marquette High School Hall Of Fame, and was a die-hard fan of the Marquette Crusaders. He was a member of St. Francis Church and the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his wife, Lois; two children, Danny Fanti and Diane (Jake) Lakan, both of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Damion and Michelle; his sister, Mary Ann (late Pete) Halm; and his sister-in-law, Patricia Fanti. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ronald Fanti. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Martin, Louie Pallai, Joe Crowley, Joe Knott, Mel Laschewski, the Stoudt Girls-Virginia Johnson, Lorraine Gayan, and Marge Donnelly, and the Muffler Boys-Terry, Ryan, Dean, and Greg Jr. Memorials may be directed to the family.
