Richard Drackley

Richard G. Drackley Sr., 71, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Mary's Church with Rev. Jules Adator, officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 7:00 pm, Friday, January 18 with prayers at 4:00 at Ottawa Funeral Home. He will be buried in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery at a later date. Richard was born August 26, 1941 in Marseilles, Illinois to Roger and Viola (Richardson) Drackley. He was a 1959 graduate of Marseilles High School. He married Lois Vicini July 1, 1961 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. He worked for the City of Ottawa in the vehicle maintenance department as a mechanic and he retired in 2004. He was a member of St. Mary's Church, The Moose Lodge, Shoreline Boat Club, and Ottawa River Rescue Squad where he was a lifetime member and also taught boating safety. He was especially proud of the birth of his first great-granddaughter and when he and Lois took a three week trip down the Mississippi River from Ottawa to Tennessee. He loved fishing, boating, and traveling in their motor home. He is survived by wife; one daughter, Robin (Kathy Matsko) Drackley of Crystal Lake, one son, Rick (Sue) Drackley of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Sarah (Ryan) Michelini and Andy Drackley; one great-grandchild, Leah Michelini; and three sisters, Caroline (Vernel) Daniels, Ruth (Roger) Close, and Harriet (Tom) Clark. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Charles Drackley. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the family or Ottawa River Rescue Squad P.O. Box 234 Ottawa, Illinois 61350.
