Reige Hughes

OTTAWA – Reige Hughes, 76, of Ottawa, died Saturday, September 29 at Ottawa Pavilion. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Wednesday at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with military services. Visitation will be from 4 – 7 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Mr. Hughes was born March 20, 1931, in Burnsville, N.C. to Nelson and Lucy (Atkins) Hughes. He married Jo Anne Anderson on September 15, 1958 in Greenville, S.C. She died March 15, 1999. He had been a Laborer. He served in the Army from 1950 to 1954 during the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Post 33. He is survived by two sons, Reige (Mary) Hughes of Indianapolis, Indiana and Dale Hughes of Ottawa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters; and three brothers. He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne; a daughter, Tina Hoyt and three sisters. Memorials may be directed to the family.
