Raymond "Dick" Bennington, 80, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, June 1, 2023 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa.
Visitation will be on Saturday June, 10, from 9:00am until 10:00am at St. Francis of Assisi Church. Mass of Christian burial will follow at 10:00am, at the church, with Msgr. Mark Merdian officiating. Burial with military honors will be in St. Columba Cemetery.
Raymond was born June 22, 1942, in Ottawa, IL, to Raymond and Mary (Hoffman) Bennington Sr. He married Patricia Vicini on May 4, 1974 in Ottawa.
He was a graduate of LeSueur High school in LeSueur, MN. After high school, he served 2 years in the United States Army. When he returned from the Army, he started working for LOF and retired after a 30 year career. He was an avid outdoors man. He hunted when he was younger and loved to fish. He was also a huge Minnesota Vikings fan. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He never passed up an opportunity to spend time with them. He was a member of St. Francis Church and was an active supporter of Labor of Love with the United Way for over 20 years.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy Bennington; his children, Doug (Rhonda) Bennington, Tracy (Kurt) Barth, and Ann Ueno; his grandchildren, Hannah, Blake, and Connor Barth and Zoey Ueno; and his siblings, Judy Fling, John Bennington, Cathy Copeland, Maryann Runkle, and Ed Bennington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister in law, MaryBeth O’Brien; his nephew, Tim Copeland, and his niece, Katie Copeland.
