Gladys "Phyllis" Skolek, 80, of Ottawa passed away Tuesday, February 17, 2015 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, February 21, 2015 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate with Rev. Augustine Kassa officiating. Visitation will be 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Saturday prior to Mass at St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Ottawa Funeral Home has been entrusted with her arrangements. Phyllis was born October 14, 1934 in Estherville, Iowa to Clifford and Lena (Russell) Gage. She married Edward Skolek on June 25, 1955 at St. Mary's church in Naplate; he passed away September 10, 2005. Phyllis and her husband owned and operated Bowl and Kettle, in Naplate. She was a member of St. Mary Church, Ottawa Moose Lodge, and American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by two sons, Ed (Jane) Skolek, of Utica, Randy (Dorrie) Skolek of Ottawa; two daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Roush of Ottawa, and Cynthia Seebold of Plainfield; eight grandchildren, Amy (JJ) Halliday, JD (Jamie) Welch, Emily (Joe) Klumb, Justin and Steely Skolek, Rachael Montanus, Billy and Sarah Seebold; six great grandchildren, Bryiana, Jocelyn, Andreya, Remington, Keira and Makenna; two sisters, Roberta (Charles) Simmons of FL., and Anita (Jack) Gage of TN; and a brother-in-law, Pete Hatch of MO. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband; and one sister, Marguerite Hatch. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Memorials may be directed to Naplate Veterans Memorial Park.
