Phillip "Phil" W. Thouvenin, 63, of Ottawa died Monday, December 5, 2011 at Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00AM Saturday, December 10, 2011 at St. Patrick's Church with Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 to 7:00 Friday, December 9 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Prayers will be at 4:00PM. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Phil was born April 1, 1948 in Breese, Illinois to Lester and Leora (Mueller) Thouvenin. He married Marjorie Heidemann June 5, 1971 in Germantown, Illinois. He attended Mater Dei High School in Breese, Illinois, and the United Institute of Electronics in Louisville, Kentucky. After 32 years of employment he retired from Commonwealth Edison (Exelon). He was a member of the 46th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, a part of the North-South Skirmish Association for over 30 years. He was also a member of Sandy Ford Sportsman Club, Ottawa YMCA where he played racquetball for over 20 years, Ottawa Bowling, Softball, and Little Leagues, and Knights of Columbus. He had also served on the St. Patrick's School Board and volunteered at the food pantry. Phil enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping, traveling, family, and friends. He is survived by his mother, Leora Thouvenin; his wife, Marjorie; two daughters, Noelle (Jerry Haynes) Thouvenin of Chickamauga, GA, and Renee (Max) Chernick of Bloomington; one son, Lucas (Andrea) Thouvenin of Chesterfield, MO.; two grandchildren, Paige and Paxton Chernick; one sister, Martha Jane (Tim) Rosinski of Highland, IL; and one brother, Lester (Nancy) Thouvenin of Morris, IL. He is preceded in death by his father, Lester Thouvenin. Pallbearers will be Bryan and Brad Thouvenin, Scott and Ken Heidemann, Curt Rosinski, and Todd Svoboda Memorials may be directed to Northwestern University Hospital Neurology Center of PPA and FTD.
