Phillip Sterba

Phillip M. Sterba, 74, of La Salle, passed away Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at his home.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory.

Phillip was born February 24, 1951, in Morris, IL to Charles and Ruth (Sanders) Sterba. He worked for Lifetime Rooftile in Seneca for over 15 years. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed fishing and camping along the river. He enjoyed playing his guitar and was an active member of Shwumb Outreach Ministry in LaSalle as well as the VFW and American Legion in Ottawa.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Sterba; his children, Janet (Vern) Kilgore, Phillip (Michelle) Sterba Jr, and Patrick Sterba; his grandchildren, Channa, Carrie (AJ), Vanessa, Andria, Julia, Ellissa, Laura, Evelina, and Annabella; and his great grandchildren, Kaylyn, Kaisen, and Hudson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ruth; his daughter, Margaret Sterba; and his siblings, Charles, James, and Robert Sterba and Alice Holcomb.

Memorials in Phillip's honor may be directed to the family to assist with funeral costs.
