Peter Casassa

Peter John Casassa, 79, of Ottawa died Friday, April 16, 2010 at St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Thursday, April 22, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 21 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Ottawa Funeral Home. Entombment will be at Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Ottawa. Peter was born September 4, 1930 to Fancis Gutson and Joseph Casassa in Spring Valley, Illinois. He married Alicia McGinnis on October 3, 1970 in Ottawa. She died November 30, 1996. He then married Evelyn Jackson September 5, 1998 in Laughlin, Nevada. He was retired from Illinois Bell. He was a proud member of the Hardee's Coffee Group. Peter is survived by his wife; five step-children, Lynn (Ron) Laatz, Tom Jackson, Leann (Rance Hendrix) McDonald, Sharon (Danny Mennie) Valdez, Jay (Susan) Jackson; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one niece; Cindy Coates, one nephew; Charlie Tieder: his special friend Dusty; one son, Joseph Casassa; and a daughter, Diane (Casassa) Dalzot. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Alicia McGinnis; three sisters, Katherine, Hattie, and Francis; and Frances Klug Casassa. Pallbearers will be: Terry Fischer, Ron Laatz, Nathan Laatz, Ryan Meglan, Bob McDonald, and Rance Hendrix. Honorary Pallbearer: Jerry Smith. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
