Peter Carretto

Peter D. Carretto, 84, of Ottawa, IL, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Pleasant View in Ottawa. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Columba Church with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday April 3, 2013 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Peter was born June 30, 1928, in Ottawa, Illinois, to Alphonse and Madeline (Conte) Carretto. He married Anna Yates on June 28, 1951, at St. Columba Church. He was the owner/operator of Garzanelli's Supper Club in Oglesby. He had operated the Sanicula Marina and Drive Inn. He also worked for Sheet Metal Workers Local Union 1 and Sunbeam Bread Purity Baking Company. He was a member of St. Columba Church, Knights of Columba, Ottawa Moose Lodge, the Oglesby Elks, and past member of Deer Park Country Club and Starved Rock Yacht Club. He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Pam (Mike) Mills of Ottawa; four sons, Dave and Peter (Pam) both of Ottawa, Jim (Sandy) and Chuck (Nina) Carretto both of Oglesby; eight grandchildren Christopher Mills, Anna (Cory) Griffin, April (Gary) Windy, Angela, Abby, Alex, Mia and Mario Carretto; and three great grandchildren, Lila and Quinn Windy and Hailey Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Kay, in infancy; and three brothers, Alphonse Jr., Phillip, and George Carretto. Pallbearers will be Mike and Christopher Mills, Alex, Mario, Robert and Mark Carretto. Memorials may be directed to St Columba Church Building Fund or donor's choice.
