Paul "Burr" E. Sheedy, 85, of Ottawa, Illinois, passed away Saturday, February 25, 2012 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at St. Patrick's Church, with Rev. Joseph Donton officiating. Burial will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28 at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 7:00 with the Knights of Columbus. Paul was born September 10, 1926, in Seneca, Illinois, to Edgar T. and Alice (Killelea) Sheedy. He married Bette H. Wilson on April 10, 1947 at St. Francis of Assisi Church. She died May 4, 2007. He worked for Union Local 2158 as a Millwright at many different locations. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Knights of Columbus. Paul was a very devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, uncle, and friend. He loved to play cards, watch the Chicago Bulls, and spend time with his family. He is survived by two daughters, Paulette Sheedy of Ottawa and Lynette (Chuck) Mathias of Moline, Illinois; two grandchildren, Kylie Gerardy and Ryan Mathias; and one great-grandson, Brenden Gerardy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and a sister. Pallbearers will be Ryan Mathias, Scott Gerardy, Jon Lowe, Terry Jones, Brent Barron, and Nathan Dilley. Memorials may be directed to the family.
