Paul C. Nielsen

Paul C. Nielsen Sr., 67, of LaSalle, formerly of Ottawa, IL, passed away Thursday, September 2, 2010 at Lexington Health Care in Bloomingdale, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at Ottawa Funeral Home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Paul was born June 28, 1943 in Morris, IL to Clark and Mary (Barla) Nielsen. He married Sandra Leonard February 16, 1963 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. She died December 15, 1999. Paul served in the United States Army National Guard. He and his wife, Sandra, owned and operated the former Sports Express in Ottawa. Paul is survived by one son, Paul Jr. (Peggy) of Bloomingdale, IL; two grandchildren, Michael Paul and Catherine Rose Nielsen; and one sister, Dolores Brei of Tucson, AZ. He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; a daughter, Paula Lynn, Pallbearers will be Brad McGill, Bob and Dan Collins, Doug Carroll, and Rich and Harry Pelka. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ottawa Little League in honor of Paul.
