Paul Mcgann

LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Paul E. McGann, of Ottawa, died on Feb. 25, in Lexington, Ky., one day shy of his 64th birthday. His family was by his side when he lost his swift battle with cancer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m., with a Rosary starting at 7 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 29 at the Ottawa Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, March 1, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in St. Columba Cemetery. A lunch for family and friends will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Paul was born on Feb. 26, 1944, in Ottawa, to Gregory and Irene (Gustat) McGann. He married Marilyn Mobley on June 17, 1967. He is survived by Marilyn; three daughters, Kammy (Joe) Markey of Versailles, Ky., Melissa (Stephen) Haines, of Lexington, Ky., Shannon McGann of Billings, Mont.; and one son, Darren (Suzanne) of St. Paul, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Connor, Travis and Nathan Markey, Pierce, Jenna and Grace Haines and John and Margaret Rose McGann; he is also survived by his brother, Robert of Honolulu, Hawaii; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kay McGann Walsh. Following graduation from Marquette High School and IVCC, Paul served in the United States Air Force including a tour of duty in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968. He is best remembered for owning and operating the Silverfross Restaurant in the 70s and 80s. For 10 years, and immediately prior to retirement, Paul was an engineer for CSX Railroad. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church and a perennial participant at The White House Retreat in St. Louis, Mo. Obituary written by family members.
