OTTAWA -- Paul C. Carlson, 74, formerly of Chicago, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at La Salle County Nursing Home in Ottawa. There will be a gathering of family and friends at Ottawa Funeral Home from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Friday. Graveside services and burial will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Ill. Paul Carl Carlson was born June 17, 1933, in Chicago, the son of Eva (Johnson) and Carl Carlson. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a carpenter and millwright. Paul is survived by his wife, Cheryl (Steinmetz) Carlson; two children, Lorna Binns and her husband Brian of Colorado and Stuart Carlson of Arkansas; stepchildren and their spouses, Michael and Erica Wieronski of McHenry, Ill., Terri Anderson of New Lenox, Ill., Vicky Wieronski of Antioch, Ill., Leslie Cash of New Lenox and Ed and Gloria Anderson of Tinley Park, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Steve Carlson of Prophetstown, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, John Erik Johnson and Leonard Carlson. Obituary written by family members.
