Patrick J. Mossey

Patrick J. Mossey, 75, of Ottawa, IL passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021 at his home in SanTan Valley, AZ.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.  Ottawa Funeral Home & Crematory has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Patrick was born December 29, 1945 in Tampa, FL to Harold and Margaret (Nagle) Mossey.  He proudly worked as a pipefitter for Local 81 and then later Local 597 working a variety of jobs throughout the United States.  In particular, Patrick was very proud of his involvement on the Trans-Alaska Pipeline project.  Patrick loved to work and mentored both of his sons into the trade along with many others.  Patrick loved his union brothers and the adventures he encountered across the United States working a variety of jobs.  In retirement, Patrick enjoyed spending time with family and friends, cooking meals (pipeline potatoes a favorite), and his recreational vehicles especially riding his Harley Davidson.  Patrick had a quick wit, an outgoing personality, and a big sense of humor that easily made new acquaintances and friends.  Patrick had plenty of funny quips and was quite the storyteller.  If you were fortunate to have his company you likely heard many of them and likely shared a laugh.

He is survived by his children Timothy Mossey and Lynn (Brett) Carroll, both of Ottawa, IL; Son-in-law Bill Strong of Springfield, MO; Daughter-in-law Sandra Brassfield of Rockford, IL; Grandchildren Lindsey Davis, Tamra Ronning, Kellie Brassfield, Kylie, John, and Darby Carroll, Jamie Pendarvis, Joshua Baldwin, Ireland and Patrick Strong; three great grandchildren; his brothers Michael (Linda) Mossey, Joseph (Carlyn) Mossey with nephew Ryan Mossey and niece Erin Mossey; and special friend Cecelia Smith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two children Patrick Mossey, Jr. and Stephanie Strong.
