Patricia Petre

UTICA -- Patricia I. Petre, 83, of Utica, died Sunday, July 8, at Heritage Manor in Peru. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Patrick Church with the Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Ottawa Funeral Home with prayers at 4 p.m. Mrs. Petre was born June 27, 1924, in Ottawa, to Charles and Mary (Scully) Engel. She married Gilbert W. Petre on Jan. 26, 1946. He died Aug. 13, 1971. She was a member of St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa, St. Mary's Church in Utica and its Daughters of Isabella and Navy Mothers. She is survived by a daughter, Catherine M. (Ed) Goetsch of Utica; three sons, Robert Petre of Utica, Gilbert "Butch" (Debra) Petre of Streator and Donald (Ann) Petre of Peru; 16 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two daughters-in-law, Mary Petre of Peru and Julie Petre of Marseilles. She was preceded in death by three sons, Orwin, Patrick Michael and Larry Petre; two daughters, Roberta and Mary Irene Petre; a grandson, Nicholas Petre; five brothers, James, Charles, Nicholas, Michael and Johnny Engel; and two sisters, Catherine Hellman and Marie Castelli-Pennington. Pallbearers will be Leo, Eric, Jacob, Aaron, Daniel, Mark, Shawn and Mike Petre.
