Nobuko "Peggy" Goetz

Nobuko “Peggy” (as she was known to her friends) Goetz, surrounded by loved ones, passed away peacefully in her home January 13, 2025.

Peggy was born November 12, 1930 in Yokohama, Japan to Seikichi and Sawa Kayama, where she later attended grade school and Yokohama City University. Peggy excelled in sports and was an accomplished pianist, possessing an impressive knowledge of western literature and music. After moving to the United States, one of her treasured past times was attending theatre in Chicago.

Upon her marriage to Robert Goetz in 1951, Peggy immigrated to the United States where she gave birth to three children. She worked numerous years at the former Ramada Inn and Value City. Peggy enjoyed the company of co-workers and took pleasure in all those she met.

Peggy was a loving mother, trusted friend, and a woman of unusual strength and integrity. In her absence she leaves her children Kay Shaw, of Yorkville, Sandra Goetz and Douglas Goetz, both of Ottawa, along with sister, Kimiko Kase, of Tokyo, Japan. She is further survived by four grandchildren, Andrew (Joanna) Shaw of Yorkville, Hilary Shaw, of Madison, Wisconsin, Jeff (Teri) Shaw, of Morris, and Jenny (Ed) Parolek, of Sugar Grove; eight great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews in Tokyo, Japan.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents - Seikichi and Sawa Kayama, her sisters - Sumiko Watanuki, and Yoshiko Mikami, as well as her brother, Shochan Kayama, and her son-in-law, John Shaw.

Interment will be private at a later date. Condolences may be sent to Kay Shaw, P.O. Box 488, Yorkville, IL. 60560.
