Nancy Vercolio, of Liberty Village in Streator, passed away peacefully on November 16. She was born on May 16, 1938, in Streator, Illinois, the daughter of Thomas and Alberta (Orrison) Kerestes.

Nancy married the love of her life, Dominic Vercolio, on May 23, 1959, in Streator. Together they made their home in Ottawa, Illinois, where they raised their family and shared 61 years of marriage.

She valued closeness and companionship, and her need for connection reflected just how much her family and friends meant to her.

She is survived by her sister, Judy (Dave) Hallowell; brother, Jerry Kerestes; sister-in-law, Judy (James) Kerestes; daughter, Beth (Jody) Osmund; son, Brian Vercolio; and her three grandchildren, Richard Dominic, Duncan, and Jack Osmund, who brought her immense joy.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dominic; her brother, James Kerestes; and a daughter in infancy.

Because making Christmas special for children was one of Nancy's greatest joys, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Youth Service Bureau's Star Tree Christmas gift program.

Beth and Brian are grateful for the kindness and compassion shown to Nancy in her later years by her siblings and the staff at Liberty Village. Their support and care brought comfort and companionship to her days.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 22, from 1:30pm until 3:00pm at Ottawa Funeral Home. A funeral ceremony will follow at 3:00pm with Fr. Patrick Wille officiating. Cremation rites have been entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home.
