Myles Piercy

Myles A. Piercy, 93, of Streator, IL, passed away Sunday September 20, 2009 at his home. Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Thursday September 24, 2009 at Ottawa Funeral Home with the Chaplain Rebecca Love officiating. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday September 23 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oakwood Memorial Park. Myles was born March 31, 1916 in Waltham Township to George and Mary (McCormack) Piercy. He was a retired machinist from Caterpillar in Aurora, IL. Myles had a love for polka dancing. He was a hardworking, intelligent man who was loved by all and will be dearly missed. He is survived by his special friend, Marcella Kohrt of Streator whom he lived with for twent-two wonderful years and his former wife, Joyce Piercy of Ottawa; two daughters, Jody Pleskovich of Sandwich, IL and Rose Ann Kohrt of Joliet, IL; three sons, Timothy (La Nell) Piercy of Marseilles, IL, Richard (Hiromi) Kohrt of Denver, CO., and Robert (Cassie) Kohrt of Joliet, IL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Pleskovich and Ashley Bretag; one sister Mary Peterson of Seneca, IL; and one brother, Eugene (Doris) Piercy of Ottawa, IL. He is preceded in death by one daughter, Marylyn "Mikki" Conrad; four brothers, John, James, George, and Clifford in infancy; five sisters, Lydia Bapst, Kate Nelson, Dorothy Schafer, Helen Gilmour, and Loretta Hickman. Pallbearers will be Robert and Rose Ann Kohrt, Daniel and Jacob Pleskovich, Jim Peterson, and Grant Piercy. Honorary Pallbearers will be Rita Henderson, Clyde Smith, Kay Schmidt and George Miller. Memorials may be directed to the family.
